My husband and I have loved classic/antique vehicles for as long as we can remember. I, as a child, grew up watching drag racing all the time with my father. My idol was Shirley Muldowney, the first woman licensed in NHRA, winning Top Fuel Dragster world championships in 1977, 1980, and 1982, she started her top fuel dragster racing in a ford mustang, and her story inspired me.

My father was a classic car owner, and so was my brother, so it was undeniable for my life to be involved in classic cars. Shirley inspired me with her love of cars and racing as a woman in a man's world. She has been a lifelong role model for me.

I remember always telling my father I would be her one day. My parents instilled the same fundamentals as hers of being a self-sufficient woman, not relying on anyone but myself.

I am an independent woman, and 40 years later, there is still a stigma in the car world that women don't fit in.

So, I have launched an online business, and my impact statement is.

"Classic Car investment and Education are what We Do," and "Empowering women to own and invest in classic cars" is who "I" am.

I'm developing a marketplace "hub" for anyone (especially women) interested in owning classic cars, one place to go for all their classic ownership needs as well as education.

My back story: In 1982, when she won her last top fuel championship title, the movie "Heart like a Wheel" came out; I was 8; I LOVED that movie and watched it all the time. My brother was 15 then, and my parents bought him a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I.

I was a young passenger and experienced many drag races with my brother and his friends. I loved racing, and I was born into the love of fast cars.

Years passed, and in 1999 I purchased a 1969 Mustang Mach I to build with my father because he suffered from heart disease and his health was declining. I wanted to build a car with him to carry the tradition to my son. He passed away in an automobile accident in October of 2000. I finished building the car with the proceeds he had in life insurance. I still have that car today, and it will go to my son and grandson, along with the love of the classic vehicle.

I met my current husband because of that car. We dragged race every weekend. We have been married for 17 years, and he has been buying, selling, and trading classic cars for the last 40 years.

My husband retired after 43 years, and during that time, cars were his hobby; now, he and his son, who owns K&K Motorsports buy, sell, and trade classics full-time.

I resigned from my position after 23 years, leaving a 6-figure and I am thrilled to share my story of breaking free from the corporate world to pursue my lifelong passion for classic cars.

After spending years climbing the corporate ladder and fulfilling the expectations of a traditional career, I reached a pivotal moment of realization.  

Leaving behind the safety and security of the corporate environment was not an easy decision, but I knew in my heart that I had to follow my dreams. With an unwavering determination and an insatiable love for classic cars, I took a leap of faith into the unknown.

Years ago society used to depict our world on a narrow path, find a job, do that for 30/40 years until you retire, and that's your future.
